Gravel for the people
RAW400 was born from a passion for long-distance, off-road cycling, and for the beauty and diversity of the landscapes surrounding Vienna.
We believe that cycling should be more about... cycling, and nothing else.
Your first ultra? The route is laid out so that you're never far from Vienna. There are many exit points with train connections. Give it a shot!

RAW400 is a long-distance cycling event. "Race" is a playful overstatement – there are no prizes, no podiums, no sponsors; just you, your bike, and the outdoors.
We start at the designated place at the designated time, with the suggested route in mind. We high-five. We set off.
At the finish, we will celebrate with snacks & drinks. We will exchange stories, share experiences, and plan future adventures.

Basic registration is free and includes a short briefing at the start, as well as snacks and drinks at the finish.
If you’d like to support this format, donations are very welcome.
We’ll also offer the option to rent an official GPS tracker if you want to be listed on the fastest-known-time list. A small fee will apply to cover costs, more details coming soon.
The suggested route loops around Vienna, covering
400 km and 6,000 meters of elevation gain.
It connects the most iconic peaks of the Wienerwald — Schöpfl and Anninger — before heading south across the Wiener Becken toward Steinkogel. From there, it turns northeast into the Leithagebirge, passing Schlossberg, nearly reaching Bratislava at Schloss Hof, where it bends west toward Wolkersdorf. The route concludes with the classic ascent of Michelberg, followed by a distinctive climb up Hadersfeld, the final challenge of the tour, before rolling into the finish at Hameau.
Grand Depart: 27.08.2026, 8:00am
Leopoldsberg
Cut-off: 30.08.2026, 8:00pm
Hameau
Note: The current version of the route is preliminary and may be adapted slightly before the event.
Well, no. Calling it a "race" is a playful overstatement. It's a challenge against yourself. You can opt-in to rent a GPS tracker at cost if you want your ride to be included on the fastest-known-time list.
When participating in the Grand Depart, the route is to be ridden in the spirit of unsupported long-distance cycling. This means no third-party support, resupply, or lodging. All forward travel must be self powered. Ride in the spirit of self-reliance and equal opportunity.
Right before the start. You don't even have to register, you can just show up and join the fun. If you want to rent an official GPS tracker to be included in the fastest-known-time list, make sure to let us know and pay the fee one month before the start.
No. Or, yes. This is a website, not the police.
Too bad, we'd love to ride with you. But: the GPX is available for free. Just ride and enjoy the route whenever and however you want. Cheers, mate.
